How do we deal with misinformation, polarization, and science skepticism? How do we protect democratic function in the age of social media and AI? What does it mean for modern societies to be fair and just? What new ethical harms arise from technological change? And how do we counter these harms in the world? In what ways does science fail, and how can we better shape scientific communities?
The Center for Socially Engaged Philosophy brings together philosophers and scientists
whose work is oriented towards real world problems and their solutions, and connects
these researchers with journalists and policy makers working for social good. The
Center aims to promote interdisciplinary research, widespread communication about
socially engaged philosophy, and better policy in science and society.
